Mercat’s 3rd Annual Paella Cook Off
The 3rd annual Mercat Paella Cook Off will take place on August 25th from 6-9 pm.
Culinary talents from Travelle, The Gwen, The Signature Room, ADA St. and Salero will battle it out to become Chicago’s Paella Chef Champion 2016!
Tickets cost $45 – $65 and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Illinois Restaurant Educational Foundation (IRAEF), a non-profit organization (501 C3) dedicated to building the future of Illinois’ hospitality workforce
Local Chicago chefs and culinary celebrities display their gastronomic prowess at the 3rd Annual Paella Cook-Off at Mercat a la Planxa. Each coming from a diverse culinary background, the chefs competing to create the winning champion paella, include:
Ricardo Jarquin – Travelle
Angelina Bastidas – The Gwen
Cardel Reid – The Signature Room
Joanna Stachon – Ada St.
Ashlee Aubin – Salero
In addition to competing for the People’s Choice award, the competing chefs will be putting their Paella up for adjudication by our revered panel of judges:

Catherine Deorio, host of WTTW’s Check, Please!
Mario Rizzotti, Iron Chef America
Mike Sheerin, Embeya, 2015 People’s Choice winner
This year we’re also throwing an exclusive VIP party, which includes an hour long cocktail reception and meet and greet with Chef Garces before the Cook Off kicks off.
VIP Admission 5PM $65 per person
General Admission 6PM $45 per person.
Includes Mercat a la Planxa hors d’ oeuvres, paella samplings from the featured chefs along with Sangria, Spanish-inspired cocktails and beers from Spain.
