On average, the lifespan of a restaurant is just five years. Whether due to economic factors or simply changing guest preferences, keeping a restaurant thriving can be a challenge. However, Mercat a la Planxa has proudly been Chicago’s premier tapas restaurant for eight years – and we aren’t slowing down. When a restaurant comes to life it evokes the character of every diner and the cheekiness of every server. It inhabits its terror like a fine wine and emanates the aromas from the kitchen of a happy home. While our menu focuses on the Catalan region of Spain, we are inspired by the diversity of the Spanish culinary scene. This is Mercat’s 8th year and we wouldn’t miss celebrating our 8th anniversary. Chef has created a series of unique events, spanning 8 nights. Come check us out this April for an opportunity to experience the food, wine, spirits, and hospitality that make Mercat who we are.
Lastly, who can forget Mercat’s formidable Paella Cook Off? This will be our 3rd year hosting the Windy City’s top chefs for a friendly throw down of caramelized rice with a lot of really tasty ingredients mixed in.
