For those of you who can’t get enough of Easter, Spain is the place for you. Semana Santa runs this year from Sunday, April 14 through Saturday, April 20, followed by the main event of Easter on Sunday, April 21.
Spain has a long tradition of celebrating this week with religious pageants that have cloaked religious orders solemnly walking along the cobblestone streets to ancient cathedrals, oftentimes carrying religious icons bedecked with flowers, prayer notes, and other decorations. Tourists within and without Spain flock to the many famous such events in various regions of Spain.
As with many such yearly events, Semana Santa is also a time for family to come together in observance and fellowship. While the week is still part of lent, with its restrictions on certain foods, there’s still many large traditional meals lovingly prepared for the family table.
In commemoration of this week, we’ll also be offering a variety of special dishes put together by our Catalan chef. The specials will run through the full week and Easter as well. But since we have on our traditions here in the US as well, on Easter Day, we’ll also have handmade Peeps in the colors of the Spanish flag.
We look forward to seeing you.
